Sensor Types

There are two main types of sensors on the roombot. The physical bump sensors are triggered by running into a wall. The light bumpers are infrared sensors that try to detect objects up to 3 inches beyond the edge of the roombot.

Physical Bumpers

The physical bumpers are pretty simple, but it's worth noting that if you bump into something that is pretty much straight ahead of you, both bumpers will be triggered.

Light Bumpers

The light bumpers are arranged around the front edge of the roombot. Light bumpers are not always reliable. Sometimes you may find that a light bumper turns on and off even if the roombot is stationary and not a wall is right in front of it.
